Worth it for your operation?
Pros
- Online scheduling, intake forms, recalls, and unified patient communications
- Payments and eligibility workflows that write back to the practice system
- Explicit EHR/PMS integration story (keep your record, automate the front office)
- Flexible packaging — buy the modules you need
Watch-outs
- Not an EHR — charting and e-prescribing stay in the system of record
- Quote-based pricing without a public starter seat
- Meta WhatsApp Business inbox is not the focus — patient SMS/messaging is
- Full insurance claims / RCM still belong to the underlying PM or biller
Score by criterion
The dark mark on each bar is the average of the 10 systems in this ranking. Criteria with higher weight pull the overall score more.
Native electronic health record with history, notes, and attachments — not a contact card with a PDF on the side.
Eligibility, claims, denials, and patient payments inside the product — not a separate billing company as the only path.
Recalls, campaigns, portals, or acquisition tools that keep the panel full after the first visit.
Native SMS or messaging inbox on the patient record, with team history. WhatsApp Business API also counts. One-way reminder blasts, portal-only chat, and marketplace apps do not.
Public plan in USD, trial, and what sits outside the monthly fee. Percent-of-collections quotes without a rate card lower the score for opacity.
English UI, clinical vocabulary, and time until the front desk and a provider can work without a long implementation project.

Editorial analysis
NexHealth in detail
NexHealth is the front-office automation layer: booking, forms, messages, payments, and eligibility synced into the EHR you already run.
Who it is for
Practices happy with their chart that hate clipboard intake and empty slots. Buyers hunting one system for notes and claims should start with Tebra or athenahealth, not here.
What drives the score
Patient relationship leads the vertical. Charting is intentionally low (prontuario false). Insurance is eligibility and patient pay, not full claims. Messaging is native (SMS/inbox on the record).
How we read the sources
Based on nexhealth.com and the pricing page that routes to custom quotes. Practice-count figures are vendor claims.
Frequently asked questions
Why is NexHealth on a clinic software ranking if it is not an EHR?
Same reason complementary tools appear in solar and real estate — clinics buy it. The yardstick still asks for a chart. NexHealth scores high on patient relationship and low on charting on purpose.
Can NexHealth replace Tebra or athenahealth?
No. It automates the front office against your existing record. You still need an EHR/PM for clinical documentation and claims as system of record.
