Context

Why a solar CRM is more than a pipeline

In the US solar market a CRM is almost never “just a funnel.” The cycle runs through site survey, system sizing, a bankable proposal, loan / lease / PPA quoting, then install, PTO, and O&M. That is why a generic CRM and a vertical solar platform do not play the same game — and this comparer puts both on one ranking, with explicit weights.

There is a third group that is easy to confuse in a demo: complementary tools (field ops hubs, canvassing apps, design engines wired into someone else’s CRM). They enter the same ranking on the same yardstick. A product that only builds PDFs loses on messaging and O&M on purpose; a product that only schedules trucks loses on proposals. The score does not say “bad product” — it says what the product is.

Native messaging (SMS/inbox on the lead, or WhatsApp Business API) is on the yardstick. Marketplace apps and website chat buttons do not count. Proposal and financing still weigh more than messaging — US solar pain is the proposal and the lender, not Meta chat.
