Worth it for your operation?

Pros

  • Public Basic floor at $59/mo billed annually, with a 14-day Max trial and no long-term contract
  • Scheduling, dispatch, quotes, invoices, payments, and a pricebook in the product
  • Consumer financing listed on every plan
  • Recurring Service Plans native on Max

Watch-outs

  • Recurring Service Plans are Max, not Basic
  • Extra users on Max are $35/mo each after eight included
  • Voice, campaigns, payroll, and websites are add-on SKUs
  • Two-way inbox quality is less clearly documented than Jobber’s Grow texting page

Score by criterion

The dark mark on each bar is the average of the 11 systems in this ranking. Criteria with higher weight pull the overall score more.

Jobs and dispatchweight 1.4×
8.2

A live job and dispatch board — schedule, assign techs, and see today’s work without a parallel spreadsheet.

Quotes and pricebookweight 1.2×
8.0

Quotes, estimates, or a pricebook inside the product — good/better/best or flat-rate — not a PDF from another app.

Memberships and agreementsweight 1.1×
8.0

Maintenance agreements, service plans, or memberships that renew on the customer record — not only a won job or a one-off visit.

Native messagingweight 0.9×
7.2

Native SMS or messaging inbox on the customer or job card, with team history. WhatsApp Business API also counts. One-way “on my way” blasts and marketplace apps do not.

Price and transparencyweight 0.8×
8.4

Public plan in USD, trial, and what sits outside the monthly fee. Mandatory add-ons for day-to-day dispatch work lower the score.

Learning curveweight 0.8×
8.4

English UI, job and membership vocabulary, and time until a CSR or owner-operator can dispatch without a months-long implementation project.

Editorial analysis

Housecall Pro in detail

Housecall Pro is the mid-market FSM with a public Basic card. Dispatch, quotes, invoices, and consumer financing start at $59/month billed annually. Recurring Service Plans live on Max.

Who it is for

Pros who want a consumer-facing booking and payment flow — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, landscaping — and who will pay up to Max when memberships matter. Franchise pricing is a separate conversation on the same page.

What drives the score

Jobs, quotes, memberships, and price are strong. Financing is a true flag (consumer financing on the plan grid). Messaging is true but not the top of this list.

How we read the sources

Based on housecallpro.com and the public pricing page (Basic $59/mo annual, Essentials, Max, Recurring Service Plans, consumer financing, add-ons).

Frequently asked questions

Are maintenance agreements on the cheap plan?

No. The public pricing page puts Recurring Service Plans on Max. Basic still does dispatch, quotes, invoices, and consumer financing. The membership flag is true for the product, not for Basic alone.

Why is messaging not a 9?

Quotes can go out by text, and Voice is a documented add-on. That earns the native messaging flag. Jobber publishes a clearer two-way inbox article, so the score stays mid-high until Housecall Pro’s job-card inbox is as explicit.
