Worth it for your operation?

Pros

  • Official WhatsApp API / BSP onboarding with shared team inbox
  • Broadcast campaigns, templates, and no-code chatbots in the product
  • Public Growth/Pro/Business ladder with a short trial and zero setup-fee messaging
  • Commerce hooks (catalog, Shopify abandon-cart style flows) for D2C teams

Watch-outs

  • Message fees follow WATI’s rate card — not always a pure Meta pass-through
  • Pipeline CRM depth is lighter than Kommo or HubSpot for complex deal stages
  • Growth plan caps users tightly; scaling seats means Pro/Business
  • Brand strength is global/APAC-heavy — US buyers still get English product, not a US-only stack

Score by criterion

The dark mark on each bar is the average of the 8 CRMs in this ranking. Criteria with higher weight pull the overall score more.

8.6

WhatsApp opens inside the product on the contact or deal, with assignment so more than one person can work the same number.

Official WhatsApp APIweight 1.3×
9.0

Connects to the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API / BSP). QR-code “WEB” sessions and unofficial bridges do not count.

Campaigns & templatesweight 1.1×
9.0

Conversation CRM depthweight 1.3×
8.8

Deal or contact history, multi-agent queues, chatbots, and CTWA-style lead capture — how far WhatsApp is first-class in the product.

Price and transparencyweight 0.9×
7.0

Public plan in USD (or clear EUR/USD), trial, and whether Meta message fees are called out separately. Opaque enterprise quotes lower the score.

Learning curveweight 0.8×
7.8

English UI, WhatsApp Business vocabulary (templates, 24-hour window, WABA), and time until the first shared inbox is live.

Editorial analysis

WATI in detail

WATI is the BSP path when broadcasts and chatbots on WhatsApp are the brief. Official API, shared inbox, commerce automations — CRM-of-record is optional.

Who it is for

E-commerce and SMB teams that live in WhatsApp campaigns and need an official number with a team inbox. Enterprise service orgs with Omni-Channel routing should demo Salesforce or Respond.io instead.

What drives the score

Campaigns/templates and official API are the strengths. Inbox is real. Price is mid-good. Conversation CRM depth is high for WhatsApp ops, not for multi-product enterprise CRM.

How we read the sources

Based on wati.io, the public pricing page (Growth/Pro/Business, annual vs monthly), and the pricing-comparison feature matrix.

Frequently asked questions

Is WATI a full CRM?

It is a WhatsApp conversation and campaign platform with contacts, assignment, and light pipeline tools. Teams with deep opportunity stages usually keep HubSpot/Salesforce/Kommo as CRM and use WATI for WhatsApp ops — or pick Kommo if they want CRM+WhatsApp in one seat bill.

Why isn’t price scored higher?

Growth’s public floor is competitive, but message charges sit on WATI’s rate card and seats scale on Pro/Business. Transparency is good; total cost of high-volume marketing templates is not “cheap by default.”
